Super in the face of oppression

December 30, 2003

Chris Crosby, the mind behind Superosity, is also one of the main forces behind
KeenSpot and KeenSpace, the starting place and homes for many great comics. If you're
wondering who Marvin is, you must not have read the archives of S*P lately.

And spreaking of being confused, a recent email from a disgruntled Wiccan has me scratching my head. It seems I've been very mean to
Wiccans. I'll let him tell you in his own words:

Subject: RE: Something positive

I found your comic strip offensive and inaccurate. Witchcraft, of which Wicca is a modern offshoot goes back through
classical Greece and Rome, appears in the Old Testament, and is as old as humanity itself. Some modern scholars
believe that Sarah Nurse, who was hanged as a witch in Salem, was indeed a witch. Regardless of whether or not she
was, the events of Salem and of the Burning Times and the Inquisition resonate with modern Witches in the same manner
that the Holocaust does with modern Jews, that is, as a reminder to appreciate the religious freedoms that millions
gave their lives for and that many people take for granted today.
... Wow. apparently, I've singled out Wicca to distribute incorrect information on it. Be warned, fair Pagans, I live
to opress you. Fear me, for I am... the Man. A Wiccam from Mobile, Alabama, said so! -R
